Semantics of Empire: Ottoman Turkish Translator
2024 · Retired
A neural machine translation model for Ottoman Turkish, built as part of my Symbolic Systems M.S. project at Stanford. The translator was trained to handle 18th–19th century Ottoman administrative and literary texts, a domain largely absent from existing NLP resources.
The project ran as a free public tool and was used by scholars and students across the Ottoman and Middle Eastern Studies fields before being retired due to API costs.
